Jacob’s Pillow Curriculum in Motion® Institute

Becket, MA and Online

Join Us to Learn the Curriculum in Motion® Method! Curriculum in Motion® is a critically acclaimed method where Artist Educators apply their unique dance-making practices in the design of co-creative workshops and residencies with community partners, inspired by the partner’s themes or issues. Community partners have included K-12 classrooms, health and social service organizations, cultural centers, galleries, historical sites and more. In the Institute, you: ● Train for a Certificate in the Curriculum in Motion® Method ● Enhance pedagogical skills that use dance-making for transformational experiences for participants, you, and community partners ● Explore your artist identity ● Engage in peer to peer creative investigation through dancing, journaling and dialogue ● Build an invested network of peer artists. This 10-month intimately curated experience includes two weekend modules at Jacob’s Pillow, a series of monthly online seminars, and more. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until September 1.

 

DELving into the Archives at Jacob's Pillow

Becket, MA

DELving into the Archives workshop is designed in partnership with Jacob’s Pillow Director of Preservation, Norton Owen, and Associate Archivist, Patsy Gay, and will focus on introducing dance educators of diverse ages and teaching contexts to the wealth of material that exists in the newly expanded Pillow archives. Participants will explore the archives in an interactive and embodied way and have opportunities to apply the DEL methodology to bring dance history to life in innovative, culturally relevant, and creative ways. Open to all levels | $49. Dance Canvas, Inc. Call for Choreographers

Atlanta, GA

Dance Canvas welcomes choreographers to apply for our signature program, the 2023-24 Choreographer Career Development Initiative. This season, we are asking choreographers to create work with innovation at the heart of it! What does the future, forward-thinking, innovation mean to you as an artist and through your work? All selected Dance Canvas Choreographers will create, incubate, receive feedback and present their choreography to Atlanta Audiences. Our choreographers will also be invited to workshops, roundtable discussions, and seminars to develop their careers and build professional networks. For our 2023-24 season, we continue our partnership with the Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech, with culminating performances at the Ferst Center!

DEL at Jacob's Pillow Mini-Workshop: Movement Sentence Choir

Amherst, MA

DEL Mini Workshop will introduce participants to the Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) model which offers a comprehensive and inclusive framework to teach dance for diverse populations. Participants will also create a movement sentence choir inspired by the large community-based movement choirs created by Rudolf Laban in the 1900s. The interactive movement-based workshop focuses on collaborative dance-making and  is accessible to all learners. Open to all levels | $49. Support Group for Dancers - Fall 2023

Virtual

An 8-week virtual support group for professional dancers and choreographers who are currently experiencing personal or professional hardship. Through open discussion and the sharing of resources, this group will provide a safe space for dancers to support one another through current challenges. As a program of The Dancers’ Resource, this group aims to create community to address isolation and help dancers navigate the relationships with their bodies and the changing world of dance. 

Please note that this is not a psychotherapy group and does not provide mental health treatment. If you are in need of mental health support, please reach out to the Entertainment Community Fund: entertainmentcommunity.org/MentalHealth.

This support group is available to anyone living in the United States, Puerto Rico and US territories.
